Anti-Semitic violence continues to flourish in English, with British teens having carried out the latest attack on Jewish boys as young as 10.

A group of Jewish boys visiting the British town of Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey came under a hail of stones last week by a gang of teens. The teens hurled rocks as they cursed their victims and chased them down the road.

The town of Sheerness is 46 miles (74 km) east of London, on an island off the northern coast of Kent, with a long stretch of sandy beaches that run along the coast of the Thames Estuary, and is considered a local tourist attraction.

According to witnesses, the young boys, ages 10 to 14, were riding in a coach when their vehicle came under attack by the gang of seven teen boys and girls yelling “Go back to where you came from!” and a number of choice unprintable epithets as they pelted them with stones.

The rocks were followed by a barrage of eggs, reported Kent Online.

One witness who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal, said, “I couldn’t believe some of the things they were saying.”

Nick Brown, the director of the London-based company that owned the coach in which the children were riding, West’s Coaches Limited, noted, “The people on the coach were pretty shaken up. In the future we will have to warn ethnic minorities about bringing them to Sheppey.” 

Abuse was also aimed at the driver, who was of Indian descent, he added.

Brown’s company was forced to pay for a new window, and sent a second driver from London with a replacement vehicle to pick up the passengers to take them home.

Total unexpected extra cost to the company: 1,000 British pounds sterling. 

It was not clear whether the incident is being investigated by police as a hate crime, nor was the ethnicity of the attackers reported.
