Israelis Invent World’s First In-Heart Micro-Computer
June 12, 2020
Heart failure patients can receive critical information about their condition with the world’s first in-heart sensor.
As the world’s first in-heart sensor, Israel’s V-LAP device is the first device of its kind to provide left atrial pressure readings at home, which are critical to monitoring and treating heart failure patients.
How does it work? The V-LAP is actually a micro-computer that is implanted in the heart.
According to its manufacturer, “This miniature, wireless, and battery-free micro-computer rests directly on the heart’s interatrial septum, providing unprecedented, precise pressure readings.”
