German police quoted in local media say they have located the body of Yam Levy, 23, an Israeli woman who went missing last week.
Levi was last seen Tuesday near Immenstadt, a Bavarian town near the German Alps and Swiss border, last Tuesday. Police have been searching for her and her parents joined the search, as did the local Israeli consul, along with Foreign Ministry employees.
According to the reports, Yam’s body was found in the mountains near the town. An eyewitness said he had seen her embarking on a mountain-climbing hike that is considered difficult and dangerous.
Her father, in a phone call broadcast by Channel 2, said that she apparently took the wrong path and slipped and fell from a cliff.
Local police said they also discovered the body of a local woman, 25, who had disappeared in the same area. According to assessements, there is apparently no connection between the two cases.
“I’m having fun – everything is OK,” was her last message – which she sent through messaging application Whatsapp.
Levy, who is a resident of the community of Lapid, near Modiin, was scheduled to begin university studies next month.
