Israeli Woman Killed in Himalayan Jeep Tour
August 25, 2012An Israeli woman was killed Friday in a jeep expedition when her vehicle flipped over in the high Himalayan mountains of India.
The woman, 63-year-old Shoshana Maizel-Reva, was a resident of Gedera.
She and three other women were traveling in the jeep as part of the annual Desert Queen expedition, a women-only event that travels to exotic locations around the world.
The program, sponsored by the Jewish Agency, combines competitive outdoor treks with 4WD expeditions and personal empowerment for Jewish and Israeli women.
Maizel-Reva was rushed to a local hospital through difficult terrain, but later died of her wounds despite efforts by medical staff to save her life.
Two other Israeli women also suffered light to moderate injuries in the accident. A fourth woman in the jeep was uninjured.
