In an effort to tackle propaganda, Israel’s Foreign Ministry announced Monday morning an international video competition in which two selected winners will serve as the Jewish State’s new Hasbara, or outreach, films.
The competition, initiated by Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud), will include two categories – a national category in which every person could participate, and a professional category open to proficient companies in the field.
The videos will be short and will deal with a number of pre-determined issues such as Jerusalem and false Palestinian propaganda.
This is the first time the Foreign Ministry has enlisted the public on a grand scale to fight the war on propaganda that plagues media and social networks.
The winners will be declared during a festive ceremony at the Foreign Ministry office and receive a cash prize.
Minister Hotovely declared that “Israel is moving from defense to offense” in regards to efforts portraying Israel positively.
“I think this is a great opportunity for many citizens of Israel and all those around the world who love Israel and want to contribute their talent to change the public discourse and thus contribute to improving the status of Israel.”
