Israeli and German leaders will meet in Berlin in order to hold their sixth G2G meeting which will be led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chancellor Angela Merkel. The meetings will including a series of discussions and the signing of bilateral agreements in an effort to continue strengthening relations between the two countries.

The inter-governmental consultations will focus on cooperation in security, cyber-security, technology, information and research and development, digitization, energy, future transportation, global social responsibility, health, medical technologies, links between the two societies, gender equality and other issues.

Jerusalem takes positive note of the progress that has been achieved since the previous consultation, which was held in Jerusalem on 25 February 2015.

A government press release said “the sixth Israeli-German G2G meeting indicates the depth and scope of bilateral cooperation on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Both sides agree that the past 50 years have been characterized by the constant strengthening of bilateral cooperation between all sectors of society.”

Dignitaries from the German side include Chancellor Angela Merkel, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maizere, Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection Heiko Maas, Federal Minister of Health Hermann Grohe, Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety Barbara Hendricks, Head of the Federal Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Tasks Peter Altmaier, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Dorothee Bar, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research Thomas Rachel and Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Thomas Silberhorn and a hst of others. 

Dignitaries on the Israeli side include: Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Minister Dr. Yuval Steinitz, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Immigration and Absorption Minister Zeev Elkin, Construction and Housing Minister Yoav Galant, Prime Minister’s Office Director General Eli Groner, Justice Ministry Director General Emi Palmor, Foreign Ministry Director General Dr. Dore Gold, Transportation and Road Safety Minister Uzi Yitzhaki, Economy and Industry Ministry Director General Amit Lang and Israel National Cyber Bureau Head Dr. Eviatar Matania.

The two sides are expected to hold talks and meetings over the next two days.
