Israeli military rescuers visiting Wales came to the rescue of a man who fell from a cliff in Gwynedd.

The two Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Search and Rescue Unit members were climbing at Bwlch y Moch at Tremadog on Sunday where the 67-year-old man fell, the BBC reported.

Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team attended and the injured man was flown to hospital with a broken leg.

The Sunday rescue involved 14 team members and the Wales Air Ambulance as well as the Israeli military team that was visiting the area on a climbing trip.

The injured man was flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor.

According to the IDF website, the search and rescue unit was established in 1983 and specializes in rescuing people trapped under ruins both in Israel and abroad.
