Israeli Born Natalie Portman is Hollywood’s Best Investment

Israeli-born Hollywood actress tops Forbes list of actors offering best return on investment, making $42.70 for every dollar studio pays her.

Hollywood is notorious for shelling out staggering sums of cash for actors, who in turn, are in box office bombs. However, through some meticulous calculating Forbes has compiled a list of “Hollywood’s Best Actors for the Buck,” with Natalie Portman at the top.

“To compile our list, we used data on actors’ earnings gathered for our ‘Celebrity 100’ list,” explained Forbes. “Box office grosses and budget estimates are from ‘Box Office Mojo’. We looked at the last three films each actor starred in over the last three years that opened in more than 2,000 theaters, calculating the return on investment for the studios who pay his (or her) salary.

“We didn’t count movies where the actor was in a supporting or large ensemble role and we didn’t count animated movies. The actors who score well on this list tend to have small paydays and star in highly profitable movies.”

According to Forbes, Portman makes $42.70 for every dollar a studio pays her. In particular, 2010’s “Black Swan” not only garnered the thespian an Academy Award for Best Actress, but with a paltry $13 million budget, it raked in an astonishing $329 million worldwide gross. It was the little indie film that could, it seems.

Shia LaBeouf came in third on the said list, after Kristen Stewart ($40.60), with $35.80 for every $1 paid out largely because of the Transformers franchise. Likewise, Daniel Radcliffe came in 5th with $30.50 for every dollar a studio shells out, what for the highest grossing franchise of them all: “Harry Potter.”

Other actors that Forbes deemed most bankable were Robert Pattinson ($31.70), Taylor Lautner ($29.50), Bradley Cooper ($25), Dwayne Johnson ($22.70), Amy Adams ($22.60), and Kevin James ($22.40) rounding out the list.
