The commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Mohammed Ali Jafari, has warned that an attack could be imminent. Jafari warned that “the enemy” is weighing an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
The attack would be carried out via an aerial attack, with missiles pointed at sensitive nuclear installations, he said.
The Iranian army is aware of the threat, and will thwart any attempt at an attack, he declared. He added that “the enemy” is afraid of a ground invasion.
Jafari also claimed that the Iranian army is capable of challenging “the enemy” country on its own territory. The Iranian army recently sent warships to United States maritime borders.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani condemned the ongoing sanctions against his country this week. Rouhani slammed the sanctions as a form of violence, and said they constitute a violation of human rights.
The sanctions hurt simple Iranians, and will result in pushing the nations closer to war, he warned.
The United States and European Union have imposed sanctions on Iran over its secretive nuclear program. The sanctions were partially lifted after Iran agreed to negotiate toward an agreement that will allow for international supervision of the program.
