Infiltrators Surround Knesset, Thousands In Protest

Thousands of illegal infiltrators, protesting since Sunday over a new law allowing their detainment in facilities for up to a year as their status is clarified, took their masses from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and surrounded the Knesset building on Wednesday.

The infiltrators apparently were following up on their demand Tuesday during a press conference to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Interior Minister Gideon Saar, initiator of the bill.

In response to the thousands of illegal immigrants amassing in the Wohl Rose Garden just north of the Knesset, far left MKs requested that infiltrator representatives be allowed into the parliament building.

The requests by MKs Michal Rozin (Meretz), Dov Hanin (Hadash), Merav Michaeli (Labor) and Shimon Solomon (Yesh Atid) to bring the illegal migrants into the seat of government were strongly opposed by MK Miri Regev (Likud-Beytenu), whose objection was granted.

Earlier on Wednesday, MK Eli Yishai (Shas) urged the government to seize the opportunity of having thousands of illegal immigrants mass together in front of the Knesset to arrest and deport them in accordance with the law.

Israel “has got to show unshakable motivation in the face of the danger of being turned into ‘a country of all its infiltrators,’” warned Yishai. “There is no other solution, except putting all of the infiltrators, down to the very last one, in the holding facilities, taking away their work permits, and putting them on planes back to their country or a third country.”

Similarly, Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud-Beytenu) responded to the infiltrator demand of audience in the Knesset, saying “they want to negotiate? After they get their passports checked at Ben Gurion Airport we’ll hear their demands.”

Saar has previously stated that “only a small minority of the massive community even presented requests” for shelter as refugees, adding “the decisive majority of requests are from job seekers, and not refugees.”

The illegal migrants’ protests are organized by leftist groups that attempt to create the impression that they are spontaneous.
