India: Iranian Terrorists Used TNT in Attack

Indian experts say Iranian terrorists used TNT in the February 13 attack on an Israeli diplomat’s car, seriously wounding Tal Yehoshua. She was flown to Israel, where she was treated for her wounds.

India’s Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) experts said the TNT explosives, first used by Germans in 1902, can be transported with little risk of an  accidental explosion, the Indian Bhaskar website reported.

The attack on the Israeli diplomat’s car was thought to be the first time a foreign embassy was targeted in India.

Investigators said that the magnetic bomb was placed by agents of the Iranian Tevhid-Selam-Quds organization and that its operatives are trained and equipped with weapons, ammunition and explosives, especially in handling of TNT and C4.

The same group has carried out attacks on Israelis, including one in Turkey in which Israeli security officer  Ehud Sadan was murdered in March 1992 by a magnetic bomb.

Journalist Syed Mohammed Ahmed Kazmi, a part-time journalist for an Iranian news agency, has been arrested in connection with the attack in India and is suspected of being involved in the bomb plot.

He has declared his innocence but has been charged in court for allegedly helping the attacker conduct surveillance on the movements of the Israeli vehicle.
