IDF shuts down Hamas radio station in Hevron

IDF forces and the IDF Civil Administration closed a Hamas radio station in Hevron overnight Monday/Tuesday, over its blatant Palestinian incitement to terror against Israeli Jews.

The IDF stated Tuesday morning that the operation against the Al-Huriyeh station was carried out specifically to battle “vicious incitement against Israel, encouraging stabbing attacks […] and support[ing] violent resistance.”

Twenty-nine separate attacks on Israelis have been carried out in the past 30 days alone – 22 of them stabbings.

“The IDF will continue to take all available legal means against terrorists and help provide security to the Israeli population,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Office added. “The confiscation [of radio equipment – ed.] and closure of the station is a necessary step to eradicate incitement, whose influence has been seen on the ground in the past month.”

Al-Huriyeh was established in 2002 in Gaza by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the terror group behind the Palestinian Authority (PA), and moved to Hevron following Hamas’s takeover of Gaza. It has been shut down twice, in 2002 and 2008.
