IDF Givati soldiers join battle to save troubled teens

A group of soldiers from the IDF’s Givati Infantry Brigade are to take part in a sponsored fun run in aid of troubled Israeli teens.

Soldiers will be joining the 5k and 10k runs during the March 18 Jerusalem Marathon for the Kav L’Noar organization.

Founded in 2004 in central Jerusalem, Kav L’Noar provides assistance to families confronting the psychological and behavioral challenges of their teenagers.

The charity hailed its partnership with the Givati Brigade, which will also include select soldiers meeting students as part of the group’s School Group Mentoring Program, to offer inspiration, guidance and support.

“Our mission is to help prevent youth from becoming at risk by fostering strong healthy personal relationships,” Kav L’Noar said in a statement announcing the partnership. “Our counseling, one-on-one and school group mentoring programs provide tools to overcome their social and emotional challenges while preparing all family members to face the future without need for professional assistance.

“Kav L’Noar is honored that the soldiers of the elite Givati Brigade have chosen to partner with us this year as part of the many activities they undertake on behalf of the community.

“The soldiers of the Givati Brigade symbolize the necessary qualities to serve as role models for our youth, encouraging them to adopt healthy life styles, build their self-confidence and cope with the difficulties they may encounter in their future lives.

“Kav L’Noar’s Marathon team looks forward to running through the City of Jerusalem with thousands of others. It is an enormous privilege to participate in this event together with the brave young men of the Givati Brigade.”
