How the Arabs are fleecing National Insurance
October 31, 2015National Insurance Institute director-general Shlomo Mor Yosef spoke on Saturday about the recent terror wave and how it affects his institution, in remarks made during a cultural event in Be’er Sheva.
“The family of a child who is convicted of conducting a terror attack – will not be eligible to receive child allowances for that child,” Mor Yosef promised.
“A terrorist who is wounded won’t be eligible to receive handicap allowances. A terrorist who is killed – his wife won’t be eligible to receive widow allowances.”
Mor Yosef then spoke specifically about the eastern part of Jerusalem, where roughly 320,000 Arabs live alongside around 300,000 Jews, and which has become a hotbed of terror attacks in the capital.
“We pay around a billion shekels (almost $260 million – ed.) a year in allowances in eastern Jerusalem,” he said.
“There are many Palestinian families with fictitious addresses in the east of the city, sometimes there are five to ten families registered at the same address so as to receive allowances from Israel.”
The National Insurance head concluded, saying, “our enforcement against residents of eastern Jerusalem is limited. It’s problematic to go in there, even with police accompaniment.”
Jerusalem Councilman Arieh King has long argued that the neglect of law enforcement in the eastern part of the capital has led to a de facto divide of Jerusalem.
