A group of Hollywood TV celebs and supermodels including Kendall Jenner, singer Selena Gomez and model Gigi Hadid spent the civil new year in Dubai, where they took some revealing photos and posted them to Instagram – the revelations include an interest in Muslim attire.

Jenner, the 19-year-old who made her break in the TV show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” (Kim Kardashian is her half-sister), took the opportunity of the visit to upload a selfie of herself in a mini-bikini to Instagram.

That picture came just after she uploaded a shot of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Dubai, prominently featuring its massive minaret. 

While at the mosque, the group of models took a group shot which Jenner uploaded, in which all them appeared wearing a black Muslim “abaya,” a long gown covering the entire body.

In another selfie with Hadid, posted to Hadid’s Instagram account, Jenner is seen wearing a traditional hijab veil covering her face.

In fact, the group of celebs are not the first to flirt with female Muslim attire while visiting Dubai.

Famous singer Rihanna in late 2013 visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque too, and while there posed for pictures at the site in full Muslim garb – until staff asked her to leave for desecrating the site’s sanctity.

The choice to dress as Muslim women may strike some as ironic given the rampant abuses of women’s rights in the Arab Muslim world; for example, a UN report in April 2013 found that a full 99.3% of Egyptian women and girls had been sexually harassed.
