Hitler, Nazi Motifs Common in Anti-Semitism During Gaza Op

September 11, 2014

Anti-Semitism across the globe during Israel’s fifty-day self-defense operation against Hamas, Operation Protective Edge, drew heavily on Holocaust and Adolf Hitler references, according to a report released Thursday.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) tracked anti-Semitic activities around the globe during the operation, and cited examples from fourteen different countries, from Argentina to the UK.

Many of the incidents cited, from pickets at protests to newspaper comics, included a plethora of Nazi-related statements, including such turns of phrase as “Jews to the gas,” “Gaza. Open air museum of the Palestinian Holocaust,” and “Death to the Jews!”.

Jews were also portrayed as snakes, the Star of David was juxtaposed with swastikas, and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as Hitler in media in multiple countries.

The report also included a number of colorful conspiracy theories as to Israel’s role in the war, including the “coordinated Zionist takeover” of Israel and the “Zionist ruling of the media.”

Recent statistics prove that hate crimes against Jews have risen 383% worldwide since 2013.

According to reports, there was a significant increase of 436% in anti-Semitic incidents in Europe, a 1200% increase in anti-Semitism in South America, an increase of 600% in South Africa, an increase 800% in Oceania, an increase of 127% in the United States and an increase of 100% in Canada.

Earlier this year, the ADL released shocking statistics proving that over one billion people – or 26% of the world’s population – hold anti-Semitic views.
