Hillary Clinton Throws Hat in Ring for 2016 Presidential Race

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has announced she is running for President in 2016.

“Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top,” Clinton said in an internet video.

“Everyday Americans need a champion. I want to be that champion.”

“So I’m hitting the road to earn your vote — because it’s your time. And I hope you’ll join me on this journey.”

Clinton is expected to travel soon to Iowa, the state where the first Democratic primary in the presidential run will be held in early 2016.

“It’s official: Hillary’s running for president,” John Podesta, a top aide to Clinton, said in an email sent to supporters of her 2008 bid for the Democratic nomination, which ended when she was defeated by Barack Obama. “She is hitting the road to Iowa to start talking directly with voters. There will be a formal kickoff event next month.”

The New York Times estimated that the 2016 Democratic nomination race could turn out to be “one of the least contested races, without an incumbent… in recent history.”
