Hamas Launches Rocket Attack on Israel Amid Winter Storm

With rain and sleet and freezing temperatures curbing visibility on Israel’s highways, Hamas terrorists launched a rocket attack on southern coastal towns.

The Color Red rocket alert siren blared its warning in between cracks of thunder Thursday evening, sending residents in the Ashkelon Coastal Region district racing for cover.

According to the Home Front Command website, “the time frame for going into the protected space in this area, from the moment the alarm sounds, is 30 seconds.” Twenty-one communities are listed in the region.

At least two missiles exploded in open areas around the coastal region; some reports said there were three.

No one was physically injured, although a number of residents suffered anxiety and post-traumatic stress attacks as a result of the explosions. No property damage was reported.

The impact from rocket attacks often ignite flames, even in open areas, due to the explosive material in the warheads; however, due to the rainstorm, there were no reports of fires, either.

Just a day earlier, 3,650 tons of goods and natural gas, including 130 tons of fruit, were delivered to the Hamas-ruled Gaza region through the Kerem Shalom crossing with Israel.

Humanitarian aid is delivered regularly to Gaza by international organizations with the coordination of Israel’s government, regardless of the rocket attacks fired at Israel’s citizens by the region’s terrorist rulers.
