Hallel-Yaffa’s family: The legal system serves our enemies

August 3, 2016

The family of 13-year-old Hallel-Yaffa Ariel, who was murdered by a terrorist as she slept, expressed outrage on Wednesday night over the Supreme Court’s ruling that the home of the terrorist, Muhammad Tarayra, will be only partially demolished.

While the IDF had originally planned to destroy the entire structure following the attack, according to the Supreme Court’s ruling, only the second story of the home will be demolished, with the first floor left intact.

The Tarayra family had appealed to the court on the basis of “humanitarian concerns”, an argument the justices ultimately accepted.

Hallel-Yaffa’s family called the ruling “a miserable decision that has only one answer – the establishment of a memorial center for Hallel. They will not demolish, but we will build. Justice will be served in the building of a memorial center to Hallel. We are disappointed by the court, but believe in the people of Israel. We call on the public: Take part in the commemoration.”

“We, the parents of Hallel-Yaffa Ariel who was murdered in her sleep just one month ago, are shocked and hurt over the injustice and lack of proportionality. We learned today that the home of the terrorist who murdered our daughter will not be demolished to the ground. There is no doubt that confusion between the concepts of good and evil is support for terrorism and invites the next murder,” they added.

The parents continued, “We regret the fact that the legal system serves our enemies. We regret the fact that the Israeli government shows weakness in its struggle against murderous terror. We will continue to build and strengthen and pray to God that the wicked will collapse.”
