Government Urged to Take Action After Latest Terrorist Attacks

Yossi Dagan, the acting head of the Shomron Regional Council, on Monday night called on the government to take action against terrorism.

Dagan’s comments came after the latest terrorist attack in which four people were wounded in a shooting attack near the community of Shvut Rachel in the Binyamin region.

“We have recently witnessed an alarming upsurge in serious acts of terrorism. The stabbing of the soldier at Rachel’s Tomb this morning, the shooting on an ambulance on Highway 60 over the weekend, throwing firebombs on buses and the cold-blooded murder of Danny Gonen near the town of Dolev,” he said.

“We must stop this phenomenon before things deteriorate even further. We will not allow terrorists to hurt our citizens and we demand that the Israeli government allow the IDF to act mercilessly against those savages who turn civilians into targets. The term ‘trickling’ in the context of terrorism is a lie. We do not want to get used to this situation in Judea and Samaria as has been happening for years with the rocket attacks in the south,” added Dagan.

Shevach Stern, who heads the Likud’s ‘Mateh Leumi’ (“Nationalist Headquarters”) faction, responded to the terrorist attack in Rachel Shvut and said, “The policy of containment and gestures of Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon invites terrorism to rear its head throughout the country.”

“This is a direct result of the harming of Jewish settlement time and time again on the one hand, along with the acceptance of hundreds of enemy attacks against the Israeli population in Judea and Samaria on the other. The National Headquarters of the Likud call on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to take the reins of the war on terror in order to change this hesitant policy,” the statement added.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely responded to the latest wave of terrorist attacks and said, “The Palestinians continue playing a double game of hypocrisy.”

“They are enflaming the area and inciting terrorism, while turning to international bodies under the guise of morality and justice. We must restore security to the citizens of Israel at all costs,” she added.
