Former IDF Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General (res.) Yair Naveh said Sunday that “more and more people agree” that the deal negotiated by the P5+1 powers with ith Iran over its nuclear program is a bad one.

However, he added in a Channel 1 interview, Israel can still reach understandings with the US and other P5+1 nations regarding the actions that will be taken in response to Iranian violations of the deal, which he presented as very likely to take place.

Naveh said that the red lines that – when crossed by Iran – will lead to counter-actions can be defined ahead of time, as can the counter-actions themselves.

Naveh repeated his criticism of the way the IDF functioned in Operation Protective Edge, focusing on the fact that the IDF let Hamas know in advance that there was no intention to knock it out completely.

He said that while the IDF knew ahead of time about the existence of some Hamas tunnels, it did not know how extensive the tunnel network was, and that it could continue to be used throughout the war, even as fighting raged and some tunnels were destroyed.

Naveh  himself was part of the IDF leadership during the war.
