Rocket sirens sounded in the Sha’ar Hanegev region next to Gaza, Sunday evening, sending residents into bomb shelters.
Authorities say that a rocket struck Israeli territory, but that it did not appear to cause any injuries or damage.
The rocket fell on open ground, and troops were searching for the impact site, it said in a statement.
Extremist Sunni jihadists claiming links to the Islamic State group (ISIS) have said they were behind recent rocket fire from the Palestinian enclave, but Israel holds Hamas responsible for all such incidents as Gaza’s de facto rulers.
