With all the horror and sadness Friday’s attacks by Jihadists in Paris brought about, the French nation needed to pull itself together and take away the lessons of the murder wrought by terrorists belonging to ISIS, said Meyer Habib, a Jewish member of the French parliament.

“This was France’s September 11,” he told Arutz Sheva. “Nothing will ever be the same. We had the terror attacks in Toulouse, at the Hyper Cacher, and now this.”

While those two previous attacks – the murder of four people in 2012 at the the Ozar Hatorah Jewish day school in Toulouse, and the massacre last January at the Hyper Cacher supermarket in Paris – were aimed at Jews, meaning that the average French citizen may have not appreciated the danger to them from Islamic terror, they were all paying attention now.

“When we pass through the state of emergency we are now under and reopen our borders, we will have to have a review of out national and international strategy in our war against the Jihadists,” said Habib. “We are going to have be more careful about identifying our enemies and our allies.”

Habib was very clear on those enemies were. “The Jihadists are able to thrive because of countries like Iran, whose leader was supposed to be received like a king on his upcoming visit here, is at the head of the pyramid of terror.” Assisting Iran was Bashar al-Assad of Syria, he said, “doing everything they can to destabilize the Middle East. They are the problem, not the solution.”

One thing that must be done, he said, is to reduce the ability of Islamists to organize and fight French democracy. For that, said Habib, France may need to close mosques and other institutions where radicals gather.

“We must also immediately remove the citizenship of these terrorists,” he said. “We need concrete steps to fight this. I have spoken with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who has assured me that Israel will stand by France’s side and support it in any way possible, including transferring intelligence, in order to fight terror.”

“I was telling this many months ago to all who would listen, as well as those who would not,” Habib said. “Unfortunately, we were too late, and Islamists were able to harm France. We can have no mercy on these terrorists.”
