The father of the 19-year-old soldier who was stabbed and lightly wounded by an Arab terrorist in Tel Aviv on Monday evening later reenacted the moments of horror.
“I’m still stressed from what I saw. I drove home and I saw him (my son) holding his head, shouting ‘dad, dad, a terrorist stabbed me, call an ambulance,'” recalled the father.
“Immediately I went up on the sidewalk, I stopped the motorcycle, brought him up to the house and I said, ‘I’ll stop the bleeding.’ He was pumping blood.”
The father told Maariv that he brought his son inside the house and then his neighbor called up Magen David Adom (MDA). He recalled, “I just wanted to stop the bleeding. We heard that the ambulance was downstairs, and we met the paramedics.”
In parallel, the terrorist was chased down and caught by civilians who handed him over to the police. He was identified as a 19-year-old Arab resident of Salfit in Samaria.
The soldier was treated by MDA medics and evacuated to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
“They’re stitching up the wounds in the surgery department, they’re treating him now, he is conscious,” detailed the concerned father. “It was lucky that I arrived. He was covered in blood.”
Describing his son’s account of the attack, the father said, “he (my son) said that he returned from the army, he goes every day from the train by foot to Nahalat Yitzhak. When he arrived at the corner of Yigal Alon, he heard a shout behind him, and then he felt two stabs to his head.”
“He turned around, saw the terrorist, pushed him with force and started to run home. The terrorist entered the stairwell, threw the screwdriver, and a group of people caught him and gained control over him,” he related.
Ichilov Hospital reported that the soldier suffered from light cuts to the head and could be released home within a short time.
