Arutz Sheva was on hand Sunday at the annual CHAZAQ event held in Queens College, New York, where leaders of the American Jewish community provided their insights on the challenges of the day.
At the event pro-Israeli activist Dr. Joseph Frager interviewed Queens Councilman Rory Lancman, who spoke about his confrontations with Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour who this week was awarded $500,000 by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York. Lancman had a dispute with Sarsour last October over her open support for rock throwing terrorism targeting Israelis.
Sarsour is an “apologist for terror, a supporter of Hamas,” said Lancman.
Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski, one of the most influential rabbis in America, also spoke with Arutz Sheva.
Rabbi Twerski, who is a noted psychiatrist specializing in substance abuse, spoke about the importance of the CHAZAQ conference in preparing Jewish youth for dealing with the challenges ahead.
Rabbi Ilan Meirov, director of CHAZAQ, spoke about his organization’s conference which was attended by New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Also taking part in the conference was New York State Assemblyman David Weprin, who spoke about how Israel should deal with the current Arab terror wave as well as the rising threat of terror worldwide, and also noted on the BDS boycott threat on US campuses.
Renowned speaker Prof. Charlie Harary of Yeshiva University talked about how to teach youth not to sink into the world of Facebook and to reconnect to values.
