Israel’s El Al airline signed a strategic deal with British automobile maker Rolls-Royce last week during a ceremony in Jaffa (Yafo).
The agreement was signed as a part of a renewal program, in which 15 new Dreamliners will join El Al’s fleet by 2017, with the option of acquiring an additional 13 thereafter.
Rolls-Royce will be the supplier of the new engines for the aircraft, and be responsible for their service maintenance.
UK Ambassador to Israel David Quarrey dubbed the agreement as the “biggest ever export deal to Israel.”
“I am delighted to take part in the signing of this agreement, which reflects 50 years of partnership between El Al and Rolls-Royce and is the largest ever UK deal to Israel. Trade and investment relations between the UK and Israel have never been stronger, and this deal is an important contribution to the future prosperity of both countries,” said Quarrey.
