During Obama’s Speech: Pro-Israel Protest Near UN

A pro-Israel rally was taking place on Wednesday outside the United Nations, as President Barack Obama was making his speech to the General Assembly.

The participants in the rally waved Israeli flags and chanted “Am Yisrael Chai” (the people of Israel live).

“I think that the United Nations is totally unfair to Israel,” one participant told Arutz Sheva. “I’m coming here to show my support in hopes that the United Nations will come to their senses and treat Israel fairly.”

“This has to be done right,” another participant said. “We’re praying for America to do the right thing at the UN. We’re praying for the president to do the right thing.”

One of the speakers in the rally was Deputy Knesset Speaker MK Danny Danon (Likud), who said, “Israel is paying for President Obama’s lack of experience in the Middle East. Obama built up the reputation of Mahmoud Abbas, and as a result the Palestinian Authority now believes it no longer needs to negotiate with Israel.”

Danon also addressed the topic of Iran, saying: “President Obama must show leadership, and deal with the threat coming from Iran. If we allow the Iranians to obtain nuclear weapons, it will be a danger for everyone.”
