Israel’s state-sponsored Religious Education Administration (known by the Hebrew acronym Hemed) has decided to hold a mass prayer assembly in about 800 Jewish schools across Israel, in view of the severe security situation – and Jews of the Diaspora are being asked to join in.
“We will pray for the strength of the Jewish nation and the strength of the security forces, in the presence of Rabbis and public figures,” wrote Avraham Lifschitz, Director of the Religious Education Administration in the Ministry of Education in a letter intended for Jewish communities outside of Israel. “We invite you, Jews of the Diaspora, to participate in this prayer assembly with us.”
The prayer assembly will take place on Thursday, the 28th of Adar II 5776 (April 7, 2016) at 12:00 PM Israel time. The assembly will be broadcasted live from Yeshivat Bar Ilan in Tel Aviv.
“We would be very honored if you would join us for this moving event,” added Lifschitz.
