Deputy Minister demands collective punishment for terror

Deputy Minister of Regional Development Ayoub Kara (Likud) told Arutz Sheva on Thursday about his efforts to have Arab villages that produce terrorists receive collective punishment, as a deterrent measure to crush the current terror wave.

Kara, himself a Druze, also called to expel the families of the Arab terrorists from Israel.

“Unfortunately they still haven’t found the answer to this terror wave,” Kara said, on the background of the murder of Shlomit Krigman outside a grocery store in Beit Horon in Samaria on Monday.

“The proposal to erect barriers and more barriers will put the settlers in a ghetto, a large prison, and will not provide a response (to the terror).”

Instead Kara called to impose stiff punishments on the families of the terrorists, “including expulsion to the Palestinian Authority or to Jordan or to Gaza in order to hurt them.”

“In the Middle East there are no concessions. When you make concessions they get motivation. They don’t want peace, rather they want to eliminate the state of Israel. They don’t want us here.”

The Deputy Minister added that “we are fighting against cruel, ideological and religious terror that is unique in the world, we need to destroy it from the root in an all out war.”

Kara said he rejects Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s (Likud) claims that there is a need to maintain the status quo in the lives of the Palestinian Arabs, despite the ongoing terror wave that has left 29 murdered since last September.

“I want collective harm in every town that a terrorist emerges from, and in the next stage to harm his family,” he said.

“So that the next time that someone dares to do an attack, they’ll know that the lives of their family are also in danger of being distanced to Jordan, Gaza or Syria. In a democratic state there is no place for these people.”
