Nearly five months after an Israeli diplomat’s car was bombed in New Delhi, the Delhi Police on Tuesday indicted Indian journalist Syed Mohammad Kazmi of conspiring with foreign elements and others for the terror strike.

According to a report in the Press Trust of India (PTI), the charge sheet filed in a local court contained the name of Kazmi, the sole person arrested in the case of the February 13 attack in which an Israeli woman diplomat and her Indian driver were wounded.

Kazmi has been charged under various provisions of the anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including the attempt to murder, the report said.

A magnetic bomb destroyed the vehicle in which the woman, Tal Yehoshua Koren, was riding. She managed to escape with her life by noticing that an attack was taking place. She jumped out of the car as the bomb exploded.

The indictment comes one day after Indian police announced that the feared Iranian Revolutionary Guard was behind the terrorist attack in New Delhi.

India previously has agreed with Israel that Iranian terrorists were involved in the attack, but Monday’s report was the first time the Guards were named.

The investigation by New Delhi police found that members of the Guards “discussed the plan to attack the Israeli diplomats in India and other countries with Kazmi in January 2011.”

Kazmi allegedly was in contact with the Guards for almost 10 years.
