‘David the Nahlawi’ Becomes an IDF Officer

IDF soldier David Adamov of the Nahal Brigade, who gained fame as “David the Nahlawi” last year when he was arrested and then released after cocking his gun when attacked by Arab terrorists in Hevron, became an officer on Tuesday.

Hevron activist Baruch Marzel posted the announcement on Facebook.

“Remember? David the Nahlawi from Nahal battalion 932 who cocked his weapon in Hevron against a terrorist who threatened his life,” wrote Marzel.

“Today he completed with great success an officer’s course in the IDF and will serve as an officer in the Nahal Brigade,” he announced. “Good luck hero, we love you.”

David Adamov was arrested and later released last May. His arrest sparked a viral Facebook campaign, as well as strong reactions from MKs, a nod from an army official, and several protests.

Adamov cocked his gun when confronted with an Arab assailant who tried to distract him as another rioter snuck up on him with brass knuckles and jumped at him in a potentially life-threatening situation. Video of the incident can be seen below.
