A coat worn despite the summer heat gave away a terrorist, 26, who planned an attack at the Hizme checkpoint, in northern Jerusalem.
The terrorist arrived at the checkpoint at noontime Friday. The fact that he was wearing a coat despite the great heat aroused the Border Police’s suspicion. They conducted a search and found a large kitchen knife in the man’s possession.
The man admitted that he had planned to stab hitchhikers at the Hizme station. When he failed to find any hitchhikers there, he decided to try and stab a policeman.
He has been arrested and taken for interrogation.
The closure that the IDF imposed on Judea and Samaria because of Yom Kippur was lifted Friday.
