A meeting of the Israeli Security Cabinet on Monday night, in which possible responses to the murder of the three Israeli teenagers were discussed, ended without a consensus.

The Cabinet is expected to re-convene on Tuesday morning, reported Channel 2 News.

According to the report, during the discussion a dispute arose over the nature of the response. While Jewish Home chairman Naftali Bennett called for harsher measures against Hamas, other ministers opposed the move.

Channel 10 News reported that Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Finance Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon were among those who opposed a harsh response.

Before the meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued a statement regarding the murder and said that Hamas was responsible for the murder and will pay for it.

“They were murdered in cold blood by human animals,” he said. “In the name of the entire Jewish people, I want to say to the dear families – mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, sisters and brothers – our hearts are bleeding. We are crying with you.”

“We will bring the boys home to be buried in Israel,” he continued.

“Revenge over the blood of a small child is not the devil’s work, and neither is revenge for the blood of a teenager or young man – who was on his way to meet his parents – and whom was never seen again,” he added. “Hamas is responsible. Hamas will pay.”
