One of the terrorists involved in Brussels’s Zaventem Airport bombing worked briefly as a janitor at the European Parliament, the Parliament stated Wednesday night.
“He held a summer holiday job cleaning at the Parliament for one month in 2009 and one month in 2010. Those were the only instances he worked at the Parliament,” it said in a statement.
“As required by the contract, the cleaning firm submitted proof of the absence of a criminal record to the European Parliament.”
AFP named the bomber as Najim Laachraoui, who, along with Ibrahim El Bakraoui, set off bombs concealed in suitcases in the airport waiting lounge last month, killing 12 and wounding more than 180.
Laachraoui’s DNA was also found on bomb remnants from the November 2015 Paris terror attacks.
