Bromine leak feared following train collision

One person was injured on Monday evening in a collision between two trains near the entrance to the city of Dimona in southern Israel.

The victim was taken for treatment at the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. His condition is unclear.

Bromine began leaking in the area as a result of the collision between the trains, and firemen who were called to the scene are handling the hazardous material. Police are at the scene as well.

Residents living at a distance of up to one kilometer from the train tracks have been instructed to stay indoors as a result of the bromine leak.

Highway 25 has been blocked to traffic near the entrance to Dimona and cars are being directed to alternate routes.
