Boycott stickers appear on Israeli products in Canada
March 21, 2016Stickers advising consumers not to buy Israeli-made products have been surfacing throughout Canada.
“Warning!” the stickers state. “Do not by this product. Made in Israel: A country violating international law, the 4th Geneva Convention, and fundamental human rights…#BDS.”
The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) labels were placed on Israeli products such as Sabra Hummus, Keter and Sodastream products, Glutino biscuits, dates and tangerines at grocers and hardware stores.
The Montreal-based Canadians for Justice Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is responsible for the sticker campaign which they launched after the Canadian parliament approved an anti-BDS resolution.
“CJPME was specifically cited in the parliamentary motion targeting organizations supporting economic action against Israel, and CJPME has launched its new campaign in response,” the group posted on its website.
Canada’s Jewish Defense League told the Federal Minister of Public Safety that collaborating with groups that deliberately damage people and businesses “must be stopped”.
