Bennett Promises High-Voltage Election Campaign

Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett presented his party’s list for the upcoming Knesset elections Thursday.

In the convention at Kfar Maccabiah, an upbeat and animated Bennett said that “the old elites don’t understand; the rules were changed and nobody told them.”

“It is true,” he said, “that if a polling booth were placed only in the television studios, Zehava Galon would be probably elected prime minister; and if they were placed in the staff room of one of the universities, the result would likely be a rotation between Dov Khanin and Hanin Zoabi. But they are confused – because there is a small, tiny little problem – the ballot boxes are placed in Shlomi and Kiryat Shmona, Holon and Be’er Sheva, Ariel and Maaleh Adumim, Eilat and every corner of the Land of Israel.”

“The left is stuck in the 90’s,” he accused. “Labor, with Buji (Herzog) and Tzipi, have been repeating the same slogans for 20 years… And they are always apologizing…”

“In the past summer,” said Bennett, “when rockets began falling on the Gaza Belt, and everyone dragged their feet, we placed an operative plan on the table for demolishing the attack tunnels and saving the communities of the south. We fought for several weeks until this was finally carried out. If it hadn’t been carried out, we would have been facing a catastrophe today.”

The Jewish Home, he said, was the only party in the government that voted against freeing terrorists in the “gesture” to the Palestinian Authority, and the party that fought successfully against the intended release of Israeli-Arab terrorist murderers.

Bennett repeated his position against a Palestinian state, which he said would never be established in the Land of Israel. “Terrorists do not deserve a state. Terrorists need to be fought and defeated.”

“There is a huge underground stream that is flowing out of the springs of Torah, nationwide,” he declaimed. “Everywhere, people want Judaism. Everywhere, people want Jewish music, to touch the Torah. And this stream is raising its head now. It is saying ‘we will not apologize anymore.'”

He vowed that the Jewish Home’s high-voltage election campaign would plow through Israel, “zenga zenga” — a humorous reference to a famous speech by the late Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi in which he vowed to fight “street by street.”
