Bennett Edges Out Netanyahu in Approval Ratings

Jewish Home chairman, Economics Minister Naftali Bennett, came in first in a poll of public satisfaction regarding how ministers discharge their jobs – edging out Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

In the poll, which was published Thursday by the Knesset Channel, 38% of the public expressed satisfaction with the way Bennett was doing his job, compared to 36% who felt similarly about Netanyahu.

Opposition Chairman Yitzhak Herzog (Labor) received 32%, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni (Hatnua) got 26% and 22% were pleased with Finance Minister Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid).

However, Bennett continues to place a far second after Netanyahu as the best candidate for prime minister.

While 24% say that Netanyahu is the best person for the job, 12% selected Bennett, 9% chose Herzog and Livni, 6% went to Gideon Sa’ar and Moshe Kahlon who this week made his intentions to form a new party official , and 4% picked Yair Lapid.

Asked what the most pressing issue facing the Knesset is, 67% pointed at the cost of living, 22% at the security threats, 7% at negotiations with the Palestinian Arabs and 4% chose the subject of state and religion.

A majority of 63% said that Netanyahu should not take action to bring the hareidi parties into the coalition, if this means that Yesh Atid or Yisrael Beytenu would be pushed out, but 24% were in favor of such a scenario.
