Security forces saw a suspicious Palestinian woman approaching the Tsalbanit checkpoint near Hevron’s Tomb of the Patriarchs today (Saturday). They say that she had been closely watching the checkpoint for an extended period of time.
The guards told her to stop and began searching her, when one suddenly noticed that she was carrying a knife in her hand.
They then drew their own weapons and quickly overpowered the terrorist, without needing to fire a shot. No one was harmed in the incident.
The terrorist is an 18-year-old woman from the village of Fajar. She has been taken for police questioning.
The commander of the Border Police company that was present, Superintendent Kfir Cohen, praised the quick response by his men: “Time after time the officers prove that professional reactions save lives. It seems that the reaction prevented an attack on the officers at the station or on innocent civilians.”
