Arson Terrorism Suspected in Repeated Jerusalem Fire

Another wildfire that erupted late Saturday night on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem has raised suspicions of more terror arson activity.

The blaze ignited very close to where another major fire burned through forestland earlier this summer.

In that incident, the flames spread to a nearby IDF army base, and 12 soldiers were evacuated to the hospital. All required treatment for smoke inhalation. Two Palestinian Authority Arabs from the neighborhood of Issawiya were arrested on charges of arson in connection with the fire. One of the pair confessed to the crime, and incriminated his partner.

A similar wildfire that burned its way through forestland near Kibbutz Ma’ale HaHamisha earlier this month was started by another pair of Arab terrorists, who likewise were arrested. These two arson terrorists were also teenagers from the Palestinian Authority Arab village of Kfar Katna.

Hundreds of similar fires have erupted around the capital and in the Galilee this summer, some requiring the evacuation of hundreds of residents.

Hundreds of dunams of natural forest growth has been damaged or destroyed as a result of what many believe has become a new and growing type of arson terrorism.
