Armon HaNatziv attack claims another life

76-year-old educator, writer, and Massachusetts native Richard Lakin has died from wounds sustained in the brutal knife and gun attack on a Jerusalem bus earlier this month, Hadassah Ein Kerem announced Tuesday morning.

Two terrorists, one armed with a gun and another with a knife, boarded the 78 bus on October 13 and began attacking both passengers and the driver. One was shot dead and the other was shot and taken into custody.

Two Israelis were killed – Haim Habib, 78, and 51-year-old Alon Guvberg – and seven wounded in the horrific attack. Habib’s wife Shoshana was seriously wounded in the attack, and she is currently receiving treatment at Shaare Tzedek Hospital.

Lakin was respected principal of the Hopewell School in Glastonbury, Connecticut when he decided to make aliyah with his wife Karen and their two children in 1984. He was active in groups promoting peace between Arabs and Israelis.
