Arabs Burn Border Police Vehicle

Terrorist forces threw a firebomb at a Border Police vehicle in the neighborhood of A-Tur in eastern Jerusalem Wednesday, and succeeded in setting it ablaze. The policemen who were inside the vehicle managed to escape with their lives but one of them, aged 23, suffered smoke inhalation and was hospitalized in light condition at Shaare Tzedek Hospital.

The vehicle burned up almost completely. A second vehicle also caught fire and burned up, and an electrical pole was damaged.

Arab terror forces also tried to prevent a firefighting team from reaching the scene, and pelted it with rocks. However, the team reached the location with assistance from security forces.

The Jerusalem Fire Department spokesman said that a report was received at 9:50 PM regarding a Border Police jeep and another vehicle by means of a firebomb. Four firefighting crews that were sent to the location encountered a serious disturbance of the peace that included rock throwing on a massive scale toward the forces.”

“Despite the danger and because there was a concern that people had been trapped in the vehicles and nearby homes, the forces entered under a hail of rocks, and began to extinguish the vehicles that had caught fire, and preventing the fire from spreading to nearby homes. The residents of homes next to the blaze were evacuated, out of concern for their safety, due to heavy smoke from the fire that entered the homes.”

Shalom Zaarur, who commanded the forces on the scene, added that ammunition and riot dispersal gear blew up in the course of putting out the fire, but the forces kept working to put it out.

The explosions can be heard in the embedded video, which was shot by local Arabs.
