Chaos continued in Jerusalem Saturday night, as attacks on Israeli Jews escalated in neighborhoods near Arab rioting.

A group of Arabs hurled rocks at a young couple outside Jerusalem’s Old City on Saturday night, Walla! reports. The husband took out his gun and fired in the air, causing the assailants to flee; his wife suffered light injuries and was treated at the scene. Police have launched an investigation and a search for the perpetrators. 

Palestinian Arab terrorists also threw rocks at a bus passing under a tunnel near Mount Scopus late Saturday night, injuring the bus driver and two passengers.

Later, the 174 bus between Jerusalem and Ma’ale Adumim was also attacked. Footage of the aftermath has surfaced. 

Later Saturday night, rioters burned two cars in the neighborhood of Nof Zion – one of them owned by the United Nations – and threw Molotov cocktails at Jewish residents. 

Molotov cocktails were also launched at the Mar Elias Monastery near Har Homa, beginning a brushfire there; firefighting services eventually contained and extinguished the blaze. 

Meanwhile, rioting continued in Arab neighborhoods of the capital, including in Issawiya and Abu-Tor. 

North of Jerusalem, a bus driver and a passenger were injured after Palestinian Arab terrorists threw rocks at a full bus near Geva Binyamin. Both were treated by Magen David Adom medics at the scene; one was later transferred to Sha’arei Tzedek hospital for eye injuries. 

Rioting throughout Jerusalem last week erupted after rumors circulated that 16-year-old Mohammed Abu-Khder’s murder was an act of Jewish “revenge” over the abduction and murder of three Israeli teens Naftali Frenkel (16), Gilad Sha’ar (16) and Eyal Yifrah (19). 

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, as well as some in the international media, have since repeated those claims as fact. Israeli leaders – including the mayor of Jerusalem and Prime Minister Netanyahu – rushed to condemn the murder, despite the lack of clear evidence suggesting that the murder was an act of nationalistic revenge. 

Conflicting testimonies from the boy’s own parents about an alleged attempt to abduct their younger son some time before have raised further questions about the possibility of criminal or some other motive.
