Alert IDF soldiers on Monday night prevented a terror attack at the Gaza border fence. The incident occurred near Kibbutz Nachal Oz, Channel Two reported.
Several Gaza Arabs approached the border fence, the report said. IDF soldiers patrolling in the area identified suspicious figures near the fence, and ordered them to halt. When they refuse, soldiers opened fired against them. One terrorist was reportedly killed in the gunfire, with the others escaping.
IDF troops opened a search of the border fence area to ensure that the other terrorists did not try to infiltrate Israel.
Earlier, Kfir Brigade commander Lt.-Col. Yitzhak Goetz, spoke about last Friday’s incident in Gush Etzion, south of Jerusalem, when his men apprehended PA terrorists armed with Molotov cocktails.
Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Goetz said that “this is just a sample of the ongoing activities our unit has to deal with every day in the ongoing effort to protect the area’s residents since we received orders a few months ago.”
Goetz also noted that during the holiday of Sukkot last week, his battalion, which is trained in urban warfare, worked around the clock. “On the eve of the second days of the holiday, we thwarted a team of terrorists who laid fake explosive devices in Gush Etzion, which has become a common practice.”
“Our battalion is aware and understands the great importance of their daily activities and we will maintain our constant alertness,” said Goetz added.
