Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein has reopened an investigation against MK Oren Hazan (Likud) for assaulting a public servant in 2010.
The incident has been investigated in the past, but continuing the inquiry required the approval of the Attorney-General after Hazan was elected.
According to the complaint, Hazan arrived upset at the Ariel municipality building after his family’s bank account was taken away because of a debt to the municipality. After some discussion with the city manager and the mayor, he began to fight with them.
Hazan filed a complaint against the two for assault – but five year later, the city manager and the mayor have not been interrogated.
“There was a case in which he verbally attacked me,” current Ariel mayor Eli Shviro stated to Globes Tuesday.
“I filed a complaint with the police, and my employees filed a complaint with the police. He had very serious statements about being mayor and what he would do to me.”
