Police are suspecting a terrorist attack after a car driven by an Arab driver hit and seriously injured two pedestrians who were standing at a bus stop in Jerusalem’s French Hill neighborhood on Wednesday night, shortly before midnight.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene provided medical treatment to the two victims, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s, before taking them to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in the city.
The two victims’ injuries are considered to be life-threatening at this point.
The driver was not seriously injured and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken in for questioning by police.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat arrived at the scene of the accident.
Two Magen David Adom paramedics who treated the two victims said, “When we arrived at the scene we saw a crushed car skidding to a stop at a traffic light and, at a nearby bus stop lay two seriously injured people – a man of about 30, who was unconscious and sustained serious head injuries, and a young woman of about 20, who had also suffered a severe head injury and was half-conscious.”
“We gave them first aid and evacuated them quickly to the hospital,” said the two paramedics.
