Yeshiva University on Monday announced the launch of four skills-based technology career certificate programs beginning May 11, 2015.
The programs will provide remote, collaboration-driven courses, focused on software technology and data analytics—crucial areas of growing need in the marketplace. The certificates will be offered through YU Global, Yeshiva University’s online learning initiative, and can be completed over a six-month period.
“YU Global is an important evolutionary step for Yeshiva, offering a new, innovative approach to the delivery of advanced education and training,” said Dr. Selma Botman, YU vice president for academic affairs and provost. “These programs will help students meet the growing demand for high-tech careers and capitalize on the richness of resources that are available online.”
Students in the programs will work with faculty mentors on real-world team projects to build the practical skills and experience employers are looking for in the following areas:
- Agile Web Application Development in Ruby on Rails
- Big Data/Data Analytics
- eCommerce Technologies
- Mobile Application Development
“One of the unique aspects of our certificate programs is the mentoring provided to students,” said Botman. “Students will receive an unmatched Yeshiva University education, while studying at a pace that enriches their learning experience.”
YU Global’s online catalog will eventually include graduate degrees, professional development programs and lifelong learning programs, as well as additional certificates. These courses will feature faculty members from Yeshiva University and will also draw on new pools of talented teachers and experts in various industries.
“In this online venture, Yeshiva is combining its deep educational expertise with transformative new teaching and learning technologies so that students and lifelong learners all over the world can now access YU courses and programs,” said Akiva Covitz, YU Global’s executive director for strategy.
