At least four people have been killed in the latest unrest in Egypt, the BBC reported.

The report said that a demonstrator and a soldier died on Friday in Cairo in clashes outside the interior ministry as police fired tear gas at stone-throwing crowds. An additional two people were killed in Suez.

A building opposite the ministry was set on fire, state TV reported.

The latest clashes in Egypt broke out after citizens were angered by the deaths of 74 people on Wednesday after a soccer match in the city of Port Said.

The carnage took place after the final whistle was blown in the central game of Egypt’s top league, with a surprise 3-1 victory by home team Al Masry over Egypt’s leading team, Al Ahly.

Al Ahly fans descended on the playing field and proceeded to chase and beat the opposing team’s players and fans, hurling stones and sticks and causing a stampede. According to some reports, Egyptian security forces opened file on stampeding fans.

On Thursday, nearly 400 people were injured in Cairo in clashes between police and protesters. Thousands of people marched towards the interior ministry, where police fired tear gas to keep them back.

The BBC reported that hundreds of al-Ahly football fans carried flags and wore their scarves for Friday prayers outside the club. Afterwards, they marched to Tahrir Square, the report said.

There were several thousand young men at the latest protests in central Cairo, according to the report.
