The names of the two Israeli women who were killed in a bus crash in Nepal were cleared for publication on Friday evening: Shira Dabush, 30, from Ramat Gan, and Omer Shemesh, 21, from Hod Hasharon.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry is in contact with the families of the two victims, and the Israeli ambassador in Nepal is working to return the bodies of the two women to Israel.

Dabush, a doctor by profession, was in Nepal after successfully completing an internship at the Haemek Hospital in Afula. She was to start a new job in Tel Aviv after the trip, according to Channel 2 News.

The accident occurred when the bus fell 150 meters (492 feet) after coming off a narrow road in Belkot, Nuwakot district, about 75 kilometers (46 miles) northwest of Kathmandu.

Eleven people are reported to have been killed in the crash; 52 have been injured.

In addition to the two Israelis who were killed, a third Israeli tourist was reported to have been missing but he was since located in a local hospital.

Friday’s accident is the second tragedy in Nepal over the past month. An avalanche on the Thorong La mountain pass killed 30-40 people – including four Israelis – several weeks ago.
