Mazal Tov: Deputy Minister Hotovely Gives Birth

Deputy Transportation Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likid-Beytenu) gave birth to a daughter Wednesday morning at Hadassah Mount Scopus in Jerusalem.

The mother and daughter are both fine.

Hotovely, 35, married Or Alon, a 31-year-old lawyer, last May.

Alon grew up in Kochav Yair in western Samaria, and was a member of Bnei Akiva. Hotovely grew up in Rehovot and studied at a Bnai Akiva girls’ school in Tel Aviv. She served for two years in the National Service.

The wedding was attended by nearly 2,000 people, among them many Knesset members, Likud activists, mayors and heads of local authorities, and, of course, the media. The nuptials were arranged by Rabbi Elisha Wishlitzky.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was unable to make it, but sent his special blessing to the new couple. Netanyahu is responsible for Hotovely’s entry into politics. Netanyahu said that he had wanted to attend, but did not wish to burden the wedding party with the large security contingent that he would be required to bring along.
